About these sessions

Two CPD modules built for the Institute of Veterans' Advocacy, on the financial side of SRDP and permanent impairment determinations – the process, the numbers, and the human side of the moment a veteran has to decide.

Who we are

Witton Lane Advisory bridges two worlds that rarely speak the same language: the Defence community and the financial services industry.

We have helped hundreds of veterans make informed, irreversible financial decisions. Our role is to make sure DVA funded advice is delivered the way it should be: compliant, structured and trusted from start to finish.

We work alongside advocates, planners and veteran-owned organisations so every veteran has clarity before they act, not regret after.

What sets us apart

01

Deep financial expertise

Built by advisers who understand compliance, licensing and the DVA funding framework.

02

Veteran insight

Guided by lived experience from those who have served and continue to lead in the community.

03

Shared purpose

Every decision is designed to protect the veteran, the advocate and the adviser.

Facilitators

Sessions are co-designed with the IVA so the content maps to the Institute's competency and conduct expectations. The case studies are drawn from real files: we see the original offsets, nil determinations and offer letters before they are summarised, so the material is built from real determinations rather than hypotheticals.

Leadership team

Toby Jones

Principal Consultant

Toby is a financial strategist and consultant with more than 15 years of experience working with advice firms across Australia. As the founder of Witton Lane Advisory, he combines deep industry knowledge with a clear mission: to bring structure, compliance and integrity to the delivery of DVA-funded financial advice. His background in adviser development, practice strategy and veteran financial literacy forms the backbone of Witton Lane's national framework.

Independence

These sessions are delivered on an arms-length basis. We receive no fee sharing, no commission, and no referral payments from the IVA or any other party. There is no product or fee content in the material, and attendance creates no obligation or expectation of referral.

Module 2 asks advocates to apply the same independence test to their own practice. We cannot teach that standard unless we meet it ourselves.

Scope of advice

General information for professional development only. Nothing here is personal financial advice, tax advice or legal advice, and no product or fee content is included.

Throughout both modules the boundary is stated explicitly: explaining mechanism is advocacy, reaching a conclusion about which option leaves a particular veteran better off is personal financial advice and requires a licensed adviser.

Case studies and privacy

Case studies are drawn from real reporting work and de-identified at the point of authoring: no names, dates, units, locations or identifying detail, and all figures rounded to bands.

The platform itself collects nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-in and no analytics of your answers. Progress and reflections are stored in your own browser and never leave your device.

Status of this build

This is a working concept prepared for discussion with the IVA. Content is subject to verification against current legislation and policy before delivery, and CPD hours shown are nominal pending accreditation.
