Veteran referral pathway ยท free and open to all

Refer a veteran for arm's length financial advice

Use this page to send a permanent impairment or SRDP case straight to the advice team. You keep the advocacy relationship; the advice requirement and the evidence trail are handled for you. No membership is needed, and the veteran can start here themselves.

Fast contact

Aim to make contact within one business day. Tell us the actual SRDP offer expiry date so urgent matters are triaged first.

Arm's length

DVA may reimburse advice on these elections up to $3,397.18 where eligibility criteria are met. Any cost outside that is explained before work starts.

Evidence

A completion certificate for your file, recording that advice was given before the election was returned.

How it works

Four steps, in this order

  1. 01
    You lodge the case

Lodge it in the referral portal with the veteran's details and key dates. Any advocate, family member or the veteran themselves can use it.

  2. 02
    We contact the veteran

The advice team makes contact and provides arm's length advice within the determination or offer window.

  3. 03
    The decision is recorded

The veteran records their decision in a tracked confirmation before anything is signed and returned to DVA.

  4. 04
    You receive the evidence

You keep the advocacy relationship, track progress with your reference, and a completion certificate is emailed for your file, so the advice step is proven, not asserted.

Lodge a referral

Referrals are lodged directly in the Witton Lane referral portal. You receive a confirmation email with a tracking reference, and can check progress at any time.

Have these ready

  • Case type: permanent impairment determination or SRDP offer
  • Date the DVA letter or offer was issued
  • Election deadline or offer expiry date
  • Whether the election has been signed, and whether it has been returned to DVA
  • Veteran's name, DVA reference and contact details, with their consent to be contacted
  • A copy of the DVA letter

If the election has been signed but not returned, hold it and lodge the referral now. If it has already been returned, still get in touch: options may be limited, but it is worth checking.
