Programme governance

How this programme is governed

Continuing professional development is only worth claiming if it can withstand scrutiny. This page sets out who wrote the material, who reviews it, where every figure comes from, how completion is assessed, and how a record can be checked by a third party.

Authorship and independent review

Every module carries a named author and a named reviewer. The author is responsible for the technical content. The reviewer is a person independent of the author who checks the content against the legislation and the current published rates before release.

Where a module has not yet completed independent review, the module page says so. Nothing is presented as reviewed until it has been.

Versions, review dates and updates

Each module shows a version number, the date of its last technical review, and the date the next review falls due. Reviews are scheduled at least every six months and are brought forward whenever indexation, a rate change, a policy change or a legislative amendment affects the content.

Corrections are recorded against the module version rather than made silently. Anyone who holds a completion record for a superseded version can see which version they completed from the record reference and the module history.

Assessment and pass mark

Each module contains knowledge checks written against the learning outcomes. A completion record is only issued where every lesson has been worked through and the participant has answered at least 80 per cent of the knowledge checks correctly. Checks can be retried, and the score printed on the record is the score achieved.

Recorded learning time reflects the nominal hours claimed: 4.5 hours across the current two modules, allocated lesson by lesson rather than asserted as a total.

Record verification

Every completion record carries a unique reference. The reference encodes the module, the completion date and the score achieved, together with a checksum, so its consistency can be verified without any personal information being stored anywhere.

Independence and commercial relationships

The education programme itself is delivered on an arms-length basis. No fee, commission or referral payment is made to any referring advocate or to the IVA, and there is no product content and no fee content anywhere in the material. Attendance creates no obligation and no expectation of referral.

Separately, where a veteran or advocate chooses to use the optional referral pathway, the commercial relationship behind it is disclosed on that page before any referral is made: Witton Lane Advisory is an exclusive referral partner of Coffs Coast Wealth Management Pty Ltd (ABN 82 153 980 388), a Corporate Authorised Representative of Infocus Securities Australia Pty Ltd (AFSL and Australian Credit Licence No. 236523). The veteran remains free to choose any adviser, and using the education or the practice checklist creates no referral obligation.

The material teaches a boundary between advocacy and personal financial advice, and it is held to that same boundary: nothing in these modules is personal financial advice, tax advice or legal advice.

Relationship with ATDP

Continuing professional development and currency requirements for accredited advocates currently sit with the Advocacy Training and Development Program through the Department of Veterans' Affairs. This programme does not replace that framework and does not claim ATDP accreditation.

These modules are professional development on the financial side of SRDP and permanent impairment determinations, an area not covered in depth elsewhere. Whether the hours are recognised toward ATDP currency, or recognised through the IVA's own professional standards, is a matter for the IVA and DVA to confirm. Until it is confirmed, records issued here are described as professional development, not accredited CPD points.

Privacy and the CPD register

In this working concept nothing is collected. Progress and reflections stay in the participant's own browser, and records are printed locally. No name, email address or membership number is transmitted anywhere.

If the IVA proceeds to a member portal, the CPD register should be owned and retained by the IVA rather than by Witton Lane Advisory, with retention long enough to cover any audit period the IVA sets.

Reporting an error

If a figure, rate or interpretation in these modules looks wrong, tell us. Errors are corrected in the next version, the review date is brought forward, and the correction is noted against the module rather than quietly absorbed.
